I’ve always been a bigger lad, it’s part of who I am. I’ve gone to gyms, ate right, lost weight and then stopped going. I’ve done this many times.
I joined up to Code Fitness on November the 18th 2016 to be precise. I remember sending them a message via social media. I’d been thinking about it for a while, and then one day I did it. The difficult thing is with me and my anxiety is going into somewhere for the first time. It’s an awful feeling, I’ve walked out of many places because it’s not familiar or I feel like I’m going to have a panic attack. You can always tell with me when I’m not comfortable, my hood goes up, my head goes down and my headphones go in. It’s my escape, it always has been.
Steve who I was talking to before my arrival put me at so much ease, but when we met for the first time he made it all so much easier for me. He understood. He didn’t judge and I’ve got mad respect for that.
Then my brother and me got assigned to Luke. The Captain as he likes to call himself. Luke’s not like anyone you’ll ever meet I guarantee that. He’s a rare one. When I’ve had bad anxiety he’s offered to pick me up, he’s put his arm around me when I’m not good. He’s motivating, respectful and he always checks in and shows genuine interest. All the trainers do at Code. They are like a little family of hardworking, talented and committed people. In October 2016 I weighed 148kg I’d put 25kg on in 5 years. I know that from my induction medical at my employers. I currently weigh around 116kg.
I’ve lost a little over 5 stone, which I’m proud of. Thanks everyone for the support I’ve received, I can’t tell you how much it means to me.
